The American Business Awards have been called the "business Oscars®." The awards are open to all operations in the U.S.A.: for-profit and non-profit, public and private, large and small.

There are categories to recognize entire companies, offices/branches/franchisees, new products and services, individuals (executive and non-executive), departments, and teams, as well as many categories for all forms of business-related media including advertising, web sites, video and film productions, interactive multimedia, and live events.

The program will culminate with a gala awards banquet in New York on June 12.

Podcast Interview: Suzanne Richard of UPS

Sanford BrownSuzanne Richard is an on-road supervisor with UPS who's worked for the company for 23 years. In 2006 Suzanne started the Renaissance Foundation, an international scholarship program at Bowling Green University in Ohio. Suzanne initially funded the foundation with UPS stock she had accummulated over her years of employment. UPS has since matched her contributions to the foundation.

For their support of the Renaissance Foundation, Suzanne and UPS were honored with a Stevie Award in the category of "Women Helping Women" in the 2007 Stevie Awards for Women in Business.

We recently spoke with Suzanne about her background, how and why she started the Renaissance Foundation, and the lessons she can offer to others who might want to start their own charitable endeavors.

Be a Judge for The American Business Awards

We invite you to apply to be a preliminary-round judge for The 2008 American Business Awards.  If you qualify you'll be assigned categories based on your experience, function, and industry.  Most categories will be judged via the Internet, and you'll be able to review and rate as many nominations as you like, at your convenience, during April-May 2008.

As a preliminary judge you'll learn how other companies and individuals are achieving success and confronting challenges, and you'll have a chance to win two free tickets to the June 12 awards gala in New York City. Judges will be listed and acknowledged in the awards dinner program and on the ABA web site.

The BachelorPresuming that the Stevie Awards are associated with a lot of young, successful, single businessmen, the producers of the television hit "The Bachelor" have asked us to distribute their casting call for their upcoming season:

"The search is on for the world's most eligible bachelor who is ready to find true love on the new season of The Bachelor! Do you know someone who has the charm, class and personality to be our next Bachelor. Producers are looking for someone who is ambitious, charming and successful and looking to settle down. It's a tall order to fill, so if someone you know is an accomplished CEO, doctor, lawyer, entrepreneur, businessman, pilot or in any other great career and wants to find love, contact Davida at Davidacastingthebachelor@yahoo.com or nominate the next bachelor at thebachelor.tv.
