The final entry deadline for The 7th
annual American Business Awards is April 30. You may have
questions about which categories to enter, what are your
chances of winning in a given category, and so on.
(The ABA entry kit is
online.)
Like everything else in life, 20% of the ABA's
categories receive 80% of the entries. On the other end of the
scale, some categories receive relatively few entries, and the
competition is less intense in these categories.
Here are some categories to consider, if you're
still undecided about which ones to enter.
- Advertising – there are now 33 industry-specific categories for ad campaigns
- Web Sites & Blogs – there are also 33 industry categories for web sites and blogs
- Live Events – nominate your organization’s annual meeting, sales meeting, convention, new product introductions, or public events
- Any of the non-executive individual categories, such as Corporate Communicator of the Year, Marketing of the Year, Support Staffer of the Year, and Sales Representative of the Year. There is no entry fee for these categories, just the $35 late fee at this point.
The majority of entries in the "Company" categories are
submitted by organizations with fewer than 2,500 employees. So
if your organization has more than 2,500 employees, we also
recommend that you submit to:
- Best Overall Company of the Year
- Most Innovative Company
of the Year
- Business Innovation of the Year (a new category for 2009)
- Business Turnaround
of the Year
- CSR Program
of the Year
- Environmental Responsibility Program of the Year
- Fastest-Growing Company of the Year (also new for 2009)
Every year we are surprised by how few companies ask for
our opinion about which categories to enter. If you have
questions, by all means - contact us - that's why we're here!
