Tips for Entering the American Business Awards

CategoriesThe final entry deadline for The 6th annual American Business Awards is April 30. You may have questions about which categories to enter, what are your chances of winning in a given category, and so on.

(The ABA entry kit is online.)

Like everything else in life, 20% of the ABA's categories receive 80% of the entries. On the other end of the scale, some categories receive relatively few entries, and the competition is less intense in these categories.

Here are some categories to consider, if you're still undecided about which ones to enter. Categories that receive relatively few entries include:

  • Best Chairman
  • Best Franchisee
  • Best Support Organization
  • Best Support Team
  • Any of the Live Event categories for meetings,
    product unveilings, tradeshows, etc.
  • Any of the non-executive individual categories
such as Best Corporate Commmunicator, Best
Marketer, Best Sales Director, and Best Support
Staffer. There is no entry fee for these categories,
just the $35 late fee at this point.

The majority of entries in the "Company" categories are submitted by organizations with fewer than 2,500 employees. So if your organization has more than 2,500 employees, we also encourage you to submit to:

  • Best Overall Company
  • Most Innovative Company
  • Best Business Turnaround
  • Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program
  • Best Corporate Environmental Responsibility Program

Every year we are surprised by how few companies ask for our opinion about which categories to enter. If you have questions, by all means - contact us - that's why we're here! Telephone 703-547-8389, email info@stevieawards.com.

There are categories to recognize entire companies, new products and services, executives, departments, and teams, as well as many categories for all forms of business-related media including advertising, web sites, video and film productions, interactive multimedia, brochures and other literature, and live events.

The program will culminate with a gala awards banquet in Dublin, Ireland on September 8. Virgin founder Richard Branson and French adman Jacques Seguela will be recognized with Lifetime Achievement Stevie Awards that evening.

IN BRIEF: Stevie Awards for Sales & Customer Service; Volunteer to Be a Judge; WebAwards Entry Deadline

The Stevie Awards for Sales & Customer Service is the new name of the program formerly known as the Selling Power Sales Excellence Awards. The program now has 27 categories to recognize customer service teams and individuals, as well as 41 categories for sales professionals and teams.

It's not too late to apply to be a preliminary judge for The American Business Awards or The International Business Awards. As a judge you'll get to see how companies across America and around the world are creating success. Judging is done online, at your convenience. In each program, the two preliminary judges who score the most entries will be offered two free tickets to the respective program's awards gala.

Finally, our friends at the Web Marketing Association offered to distribute information about our programs to their constituents, so we thought we would let you know that the entry deadline for their WebAwards is May 31.
